Boomertowne review – proceed with caution

I’ve reviewed Boomertowne in the past, and talked about how it used to be a legitimate place to earn gift cards.  Even after June 1, when they made some changes, I still thought they were pretty good.  Now I would like to change my opinion.

They currently owe my husband and I over $500 in gift cards, and nothing has been sent for orders placed after May 9.  Apparently communications are starting to break down (checking the Discussion Forums on the Boomertowne web site is one indication).  There are reports that some people have gotten a gift card here and there, but the overwhelming majority of people are wondering if the site is going to tank.

So for now, I would not recommend this site.  Hopefully they will get things back on track, but the lack of communication is, in my opinion, a very bad sign.

If you’re a member of Boomertowne, when was the last time you received a gift card?

I signed up, and tried Boomertowne, a few months ago. I even liked it, alot. It was a easy fun way to earn something. Then I started hearing the rumors, about being behind in payments. I stuck it out a little longer, but havent been back in sometime. I would probably enjoy the site, without the gift cards, but I really dont have time if there is no incentive.

    Oh boy, another one hey?!
I joined Boomertowne to replace Netwinner who scammed hundreds of people(me included). Guess that’s another one down the drain. I dont’ even know how much it takes to get anything on Boomertowne, I don’t go on it every day. It still tells me I don’t have enough for anything. I guess I might as well not waste my time on there anymore. Thanks for the heads up!

Rick – Isn’t that the truth! Hee hee…

Melissa – I am the same way – if there’s no incentive, I just don’t have the time. I hope they come through on the things I have cashed in for, but I’m going to try to find something else.

Jolene – No problem :) If you do happen to login again, you can go to BT Points > Catalog to see how much it takes for a gift card.

    Thanks for commenting everyone :)

I joined just after June 1st. (I signed up under the pretense of the former earnings schedule and was in for a shock.) Right about then, there were murmurings of a collapse. I hung in, but after a couple weeks, I just burned out. You have to do too many unique things on the site to keep earning. It just wasn’t worth it at that rate. Especially since it would be just my luck that the site would go under just as I finally qualified for something!

You mentioned an affiliate site of BT in one of your previous posts. I am wondering what site that was. I am waiting on several gift certificates from BT right now since 16 May for the earliest.

    Beth,

I apologize for any confusion – the only affiliate for BT was BT itself. If you sent someone an e-mail and they signed up, you were eligible to receive bonus points. I never signed anyone one else up, but I do know at one time that people were getting points from BT for signing their friends up.

    Hope this helps!

As of today, if I try to go to Boomertowne, I get a page that says, “page not found.”

    Hi,

Where did the site go? It has not been up all day. Did it finally go all the way down the drain?

Hi all, I just wanted to say that I was told about Boomertowne from a Netwinner player. I lost 750.00 in Netwinner and was told to go to BT. I joined BT and was going toi cash in for 500.00 on Monday(tomorrow). Last night I couldn’t get onto Boomertowne site..Nor could I all day today or tonight..Looks like they just pulled the plugwithout any warning or statement! I’m so mad I could spit.

Nope-I have been trying to get on BT site for 2 weeks now and page is not found. They owe me only a $25 G.C. thank god I didn’t spend too much time on there. Gotta love scammers.

I joined BT in April and spent SO much time getting points but I really enjoyed the site. They owe me about $500 in GC’s. Just like someone commented earlier, I’m so mad I could just spit! I just think of all that wasted time when I could have been doing something a bit more productive. :( I wish there was something we could do. Where did all that money go????

  14. moneyloveandchange on October 27, 2008 at 9:55 pm

That money never left the owner’s pockets. He really seemed to string us all along for quite awhile. Unfortunately, it is difficult to determine what sites will continue to be legitimate.

There’s an old saying: “You get what you pay for.” BoomerTowne was doomed to fail from the start because they had a lot of “hype.” There’s also another saying, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”

People spend too much time looking for a handout.

Thanks for the heads up here. With the economy so tough right now they probably are having tough times.
