I am a 32-year-old mom, wife, and now, blogger. I just finished my doctoral work in biochemistry, and have left the world of academia to raise a son who just turned 2. Despite my apparent “career suicide”, I am pretty happy with my life, but there are always changes that can be made for the better. First, we have a lot of debt. Second, although we are grateful for my husband’s job (he is a “scientist”), it is a long commute and is not extremely rewarding. Third, we want the freedom to have the choice to relocate closer to family, but this is currently not very feasible since the job market (and weather) blows chunks in northern Ohio. While global warming may alleviate our weather issue, having more flexible work options would make the transition a lot easier. Let’s see what happens…
